Inauguration Day 2013 at the Newseum
WASHINGTON -- As the only museum fronting the inaugural parade route, the Newseum was the place to be on Inauguration Day, Jan. 21, 2013, as it hosted multiple national and international news broadcasts, as well as exclusive guests.
More than 500 broadcasters representing 21 countries transformed the Newseum's rooftop and terraces into temporary television studios. The museum's prime location on Pennsylvania Avenue provided a clear television backdrop of the National Mall and the West Front of the U.S. Capitol, where the swearing-in ceremony took place.
The Newseum quickly sold out of 3,500 special Inauguration Day packages that were offered to Press Pass members and the general public, and that included exclusive access to the museum and prime views of the inaugural parade.
